Obituary of Myrsol Tony Dudar

April 12, 1936 - Tuberose, Saskatchewan

December 3, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Myrsol Tony Dudar announce his passing away in Calgary, AB, at the age of 87. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Theresa, his three children, Steve (Sharon), Darren (Linda), and Cheryl Shokeir; his thirteen grandchildren, Genevieve Eder, Samantha Almeida, Paul Dudar, Anthony, David, and Christian Dudar; Peter, Joy, Philip, Emma, Julia, Katherine, and Eliza Shokeir; his six great-grandchildren, Olivia Eder, James Almeida, and Troy, Brock, Tyson, and Bronson Dudar; as well as his surviving sister Lynn Dudar Hagan, and his extended family and friends.

Born in Tuberose, Saskatchewan, Tony was predeceased by his parents Antoni and Tekla (Chuidiz); and sister Nadia (Arnold) McCallum. He grew up in various places in Saskatchewan, where his father was employed as a section man by CP Rail. He remembered with special fondness the prairie lands of Saskatchewan.

Tony served as a boy soldier in the Canadian Army from December 1952 to September 1953, and again from September 1954 to September 1957 in the Queens Own Rifles of Canada Regiment.

After leaving the Army, Tony was employed at CP Rail in Calgary, initially as a yardman, then a trainman, and ultimately as a locomotive engineman until he retired in 1993.

While still in the Army, Tony met Theresa Labrecque and they married on February 16, 1957. They started their lives together in Calgary where they raised their family until they retired.

Tony was an avid reader who became knowledgeable particularly about history. In his holiday travels, he became especially fond of parts of Montana, especially Echo Lake and the Custer battlefield at Little Big Horn. He was a dedicated Saskatchewan Roughriders fan.

Tony had a strong affection for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His indomitable spirit, generosity, loving heart, sense of humour, love of jokes of all kinds, and formidable presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
