Obituary of Evelyn Natividad

Our beloved mother Evelyn Natividad of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 73.

Evelyn was born in Manila, Philippines on August 28, 1950.

She and her children, Jennifer and Jed immigrated to Canada in June 1997.

After Evelyn graduated from Florentino Torres High School, she went on to study at the Centro Escolar University in Mendiola, Manila with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology and worked as a Medical Technologist for Baguio General Hospital for 23 years. After moving to Canada, Evelyn accomplished over 15 years of a wonderful career with Alberta Laboratories and retired in 2015.  She was thrilled to be able to stay home, take care of her grandchildren and take vacations with her daughter and son. Her most favorite vacation was visiting The Butchart Gardens in Victoria. She cherished the gardens so much that she traveled back three more times.

Evelyn lived her life as a devout Christian, her presence was a gift to all those that knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and love were some of the many beautiful traits she showed to everyone around her. Throughout her life she proved her strength and sheer will by raising her children, nieces, and nephews; then later battling cancer.

Psalm 91 was a Bible verse Evelyn lived by.

“He who dwells in the shelter most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty I will say of the Lord ‘he is my refuge and my fortress,’ My God, in whom I trust.”

Evelyn is survived by her one daughter, Jennifer (Jenny) Natividad-Recibio; one son Jed Diaz-Natividad and one daughter-in-law, Andrea (Drea) Melanson of Calgary, Alberta; and four grandchildren, Sophia, Julian, Ayden, and Isla.

Evelyn is also survived by her one brother Roberto Diaz (Elvira), five sisters; Lydia Paez (Carlos), Veronica Baron (Dionisio), Crisanta Limpin (Rodrigo), Julieta Kaake, Maria Teresa Acantilado (Danilo); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Roberto & Angelina, sister Elisa, brother Edwardo and brother-in-law Maurice Kaake.

Evelyn, you will always hold a special place in our hearts. You will be dearly missed and forever loved.

A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Foothills Medical Centre and Southwood Care Centre and Dr Khan for their compassion, kindness, and the wonderful care of our mother Evelyn.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Evelyn’s family here.
