Deepest Regards in Dereks passing to all the family.
Dealt with Derek over the may years with Case- Case IH tractors and equipment from 1976 and on, till 2010 retiring from farming.
Was always treated fairly as a business man and great respect for him, his word and a hand shake was always honoured.
Was always competitive in the community so will relate a story what went down in 1977.
In 1976 I bought a new Case 1570 tractor fully loaded with every option you could get on it.
In 1977 the Lethbridge and District Exibition formed a Tractor Pull Committee to have a sled built to hold tractor pulls for 1977 season in Lethbridge, Foremost and Bow Island.
Derek got word of this taking place in Lethbridge, so he phoned me and asked if I would be willing to have the Case 1570 put in the tractor pull in the 20,000 weight class. I said you bet , so it was entered in the pull represented by Hi-Way Service Limited for advertising.
Derek said we need to do one thing on the 1570 before it gets picked up and taken to Lethbridge to the tractor pull, it needs to be put on the PTO dyno and give the 1570 a STIMPSON SPECIAL TUNE UP! Derek also said I want you to drive the 1570 in the pull, said okay.
So that day in Lethbridge of the tractor pull, the 1570 got hooked to the sled and I took off in 3rd range and the 3 gears were 5,6.3 and 7.1 mph. Started out at 5 and rapidly shifted right up to 7.1, tractor exhaust was bellowing pitch black smoke, shifted back to 6.3 still going great and it started to loose power, so went to shift down to 5 and didn't do it fast enough and killed the motor. Boy did I feel stupid, had another gear to use yet.
That day Hi-Way Service Ltd still took second place trophy in the 20,000 weight class. If I wouldn't have messed up shifting we would have won first place trophy. If I wouldn't have missed the shift we would have won by a 7 foot longer pull than what
first place Zolten Gergley pulled.
Derek told me after the pull , we still had the best tractor in that class, even though you ------- up Haskill!!! Laughfing, with a smirk on his face and a glint in his eye. The STIMPSON TUNE UP CHANGED THE hp from 190 to 245 hp, was no other tractor even close in the 20,000 weight class!!! Fond Memories and Thanks for Your IMPECKIBLE BUSINESS MANSHIP, DEREK
He invited us to my first stampede race, a great host and friend.
We’ll never forget him, great memories!

Andreas Klauser (former CEO Case IH)
He was an incredible person. A hard worker who could do whatever he put his mind to. He has inspired me and I look up to him as a role model. Thank you, Derek, for all the fun memories.
From,
Damian Moucha.
My dear old friend. You will be missed and remembered by an untold number of people who were lucky to have known you. God's bless!
He managed to squeeze a whole lot of living into those 76 years! Hugs to you all.
Dear Stimson family so sorry about the loss of Derek.
Some of the memories I have of Derek goes back a bit, arguments between Case IH and John Deere, which was better, faster, stronger, etc… but please remember this Derek if you can read this from wherever you may be now, I always did respect you and all the people that worked in various departments at all the dealers even up to date,if I didn’t bug, bother or teased any of you it meant then I didn’t like you, I would also like to thank you for your advice, help, and or knowledge when asked in the farming communities everywhere about various things (ie) equipment, supplies, tools, etc…may god help comfort your entire family, friends, all relatives, co workers, and all the people connected one way or another to you. All I can say is hopefully your resting in peace at least for now, until round two when I get to come to the other side my friend, you made things always interesting for myself and my family I would like to thank you for that. You will be missed by many even if they say it or they don’t. Your friends Lawrence J Vogel (farmer) Leslie Wolowidnyk-Vogel (wife) Elisabeth Vogel (mom) and the late Johannes Vogel (dad). Turin, Alberta.

As many have said Derek was a legend my father bought a lot of case equipment from the taber store.nothing more to say other than he was a legend

I wish to send my condolences to Brett, Natalie, and Derek Jr.
I worked for Derek as his Executive Assistant from 1998-2004. These were some of the most challenging and rewarding years of my career to-date. I have, and will continue to apply my knowledge and experiences from that time as I move forward in life. I treasure the memories from that time and respected the mentor that he was to me. Rest easy!
Derek You were a true pioneer and legend in the Ag & Construction industries and Laura and I truly valued your friendship! You will be missed my friend! Gary & Laura Redhead
