Obituary of Sanford Jackson Goodstoney

January 8, 1961 - December 9, 2023

Sanford Goodstoney was called home by our Creator on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 62 years.

Sanford was a kind and humble man who will be remembered for his humor and jokes. He attended Exshaw school, Drumheller day school, and Morley day school. He was employed at Goodstoney Housing and Agriculture. In his early years Sanford participated at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo in the buffalo riding category. He also participated in rodeos, team roping, and saddle bronc riding. He loved fishing and hunting with family and friends. He also played sports with hockey, baseball, Fastball and golf with family and friends.

Sandford is survived by his sons, Jackson Rider and Kevin Yellowfly; his brothers, Glenn Goodstoney, Terry Goodstoney (Leanne), and Marvin Bigstony (Jody). He had numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Cecilia Rollinmud, Rosalyn Goodstoney, Anges Abraham (Vince), Marvin Soldier, Kenneth Soldier (Shelly), Larry Soldier, Elden Snow (Jackie), Michael Hunter, Rebecca Twoyoungmen; cousins Tater House (Dixie), Evan House (Margaret), Bryan House, Rufus Twoyoungmen (Roxanne), Clint Hunter (Cindy), Tyron House (Verna), Annie Wesley, Lois Hunter, Pam Twoyoungmen, Claudia Twoyoungemen, Rod Hunter (Emily), Benny Francis, Sylvia Bigstony (Gordon), Nelda Bigstoney, Virginia Hunter, Evelynn House (Jeff), Virginia House and Tina Fox.

Sanford was predeceased by his adopted parents, Felix and Christine Poucette; nephew Marvin Lance Bigstoney; mother Margaret Goodstoney; father Ken Soldier; siblings Lambert, Leina, Colin and Marlene.

The family would like to thank Canmore Hospital and Stoney Nakoda Health Centre Home care for their services.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Marvin Bigstony (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside Service to follow at  Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed withSanford Goodstoney’s family here.
