Annette Sinden

Obituary of Annette Margaret Sinden

September 28, 1947 – Windthorst, Saskatchewan

December 12, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Annette Sinden (nee Lenius), of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 76 years.

Annette was born in Windthorst, SK, on September 28, 1947. Her family moved to Milden, SK, in 1949. Growing up, Annette was fond of sports. In particular, she excelled in softball and figure skating.

She lived in Milden until she went to the Kelsey Institute of Applied Arts and Science in Saskatoon, SK, in 1966, and trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. After training, she started her nursing career in Outlook, SK in 1967, before moving back to Saskatoon. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Calgary, AB; Kamloops, BC; and Vernon, BC in quick succession before settling back in Calgary, AB in 1976 where she raised her family and then worked as a medical receptionist for 27 years. After her retirement she moved to Airdrie, AB in 2017.

Annette was lucky that she got to travel later in life, including trips to New York City, Washington DC, Punta Cana, and Los Angeles. But her favourite destination was Las Vegas, where she travelled multiple times with her sons and enjoyed playing the penny slot machines.

Annette was happiest when visiting with friends and family. She was famous for her mashed potatoes and green Jello salad. She was excellent at keeping in contact with the extended family and maintained those connections, as family, to her, was the most important part of her life. She was particularly devoted to her grandsons who brought her so much joy.

Annette is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Brent Sinden of Calgary and Shaun and Christie Sinden of Airdrie; and two grandsons, Steven and James.

She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters-in-law and two sisters and a brother-in-law; Frances Traff of Calgary, Donald Lenius of Stoughton, SK, Ronald and Heather Lenius of Saskatoon, SK, Conrad Lenius of Calgary, Dennis and Gloria Lenius of Hanley, SK and Eileen and Bill Anderson of Cochrane, AB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Annette was predeceased by her parents Matthew and Matilda Lenius; sister-in-law, Rhonda Lenius and niece Tammy Lenius.

In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Mustard Seed (Street Ministry, 102 – 11 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0X5) Telephone: (403) 269-1319, www.theseed.ca.
