Obituary of David Antony Joseph Langlois

December 14, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

David, beloved father, brother, and teacher, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023.  He is survived by his children, Michelle, Nicole, and David Jr. and by his sister, Florence (Scott).   He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (Bokolo), his parents, Lucien and Angela (Kozur), and by his brothers, Joseph, and Edward. 

David was born in Kelvington, SK, but spent most of his formative years in Marchand, MB, on the farm with his family. His parents were devout Catholics and he admired them both greatly.  

He joined the Navy in his twenties and served time in Inuvik, NWT, and Bermuda. During this time, he met Sharon Bokolo. After a whirlwind romance, they married in Bermuda in 1967, but soon moved back to Winnipeg, MB, Canada where he attended the University of Manitoba. He would obtain a Bachelor of Science degree before settling on a career in teaching. Over the years, he taught Science, Computer Science and Christian Ethics in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, and at St. Norbert Collegiate in Winnipeg, MB.  

After retiring, David and Sharon moved to Okotoks, AB. After Sharon’s death in 2001, he settled in Calgary, AB, for his remaining years. He loved hiking in Kananaskis, AB, until his health no longer allowed him to do so. David was an active member of his parish and had a great devotion to the Rosary. He was passionate about his faith and enjoyed studying history and politics.  He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 34 St SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with David’s family here.
