Obituary of Igmar Nuevos Mission

September 6, 1958 - San Remigio, Philippines

December 15, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Igmar (Telong) Mission, beloved husband of Lorenza Painaga Mission, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

Igmar was born to mother Bonifacia Nuevos Mission and father Ruperto Mission in San Remigio, Antique, Philippines on September 6, 1958. He studied civil engineering for three years at the Western Institute of Technology in La Paz, Iloilo, Philippines. He withdrew from the program to support his younger sisters financially and send them to school. Following this, he moved to Saudi Arabia where he worked abroad for eight years as a steel reinforcement foreman.

In 1987, he returned to the Philippines where he married Lorenza Painaga in 1989. Shortly after, Lorenza travelled abroad and worked hard to sponsor him to come to Canada. In 1993, he immigrated to Canada to be reunited with his wife Lorenza, and they settled in Calgary, AB. The following year, they welcomed their first son, Rupert Felmar Mission. Two years later, in 1996, their second son, Nathan Felix Mission was born.

Igmar accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his achievements in his career and as a family man. Igmar worked at Cargill Foods Ltd. for 30 years to support his family and send his children to school. In his free time, Igmar loved to grow vegetables in his garden in High River, go fishing, and listen to music. He enjoyed watching YouTube videos of country living with his wife. Igmar was a handyman and there wasn’t a problem he couldn’t fix.

He will be most remembered for his smile and sense of humor. Igmar was a man of few words but showed his love through his actions.

Igmar is survived by his two sons, Rupert Mission and Nathan Mission, and his loving wife, Lorenza Mission in Calgary, AB. Igmar is also survived by his five sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorena and Edgar Gabay, Felina and Rene Iligan in the Philippines, Cynthia and Ruben Deloria, Belinda and Ronald Gordon, and Merlinda and Terence Favero in Alberta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Igmar was predeceased by his mother, Bonifacia Nuevos Mission, his father, Ruperto Mission, and his brother Leopoldo Mission.
