Obituary of Richard (Rick) Edmund Walker
July 29, 1943 – St. Boniface, Manitoba
December 18, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
We are saddened to announce that Rick passed away peacefully at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, AB, on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the age of 80 years.
Rick worked as an electrician for 25 years for TransCanada Pipelines/Nova Corp./Alberta GasTrunkline before retiring to start his own business. In retirement Rick enjoyed camping, golfing, Calgary Stampeder games, spending winters in Yuma, AZ, and the company of family, friends, and neighbours.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lynn Walker (nee Atkinson), daughters, Kim Walker (Darren Erickson), Stephanie Walker (fiancé DaveTurnbull), and Dana (Ryan) Sabraw; and his grandchildren who he loved beyond words, Evan and Jade Sabraw. Also surviving are his sister Judy Mawson, brother Ken (Wendy) and several nephews, nieces, and many good friends. Rick was predeceased by his parents, John and Irene Walker.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Rick’s family here.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sharma and the dedicated staff at Dulcina Hospice for the comfort and care given to Rick during his stay.
