Obituary of John Edgar Shillito

It is with extreme sorrow that the Shillito family must announce the unexpected passing of John Shillito on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the age of 72 years.

John was the youngest of five, born to Charles and Patricia Shillito on March 27, 1951 at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, New York. When he was just a young boy, the Shillito family made the move to Puerto Rico where John and his family enjoyed many years happy memories.

Upon graduating high school in 1969, John ventured off on his own to attend Northeastern University in Boston M.A, graduating in 1974. Soon after graduation John found himself working as a financial advisor in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is here where he would meet his future wife and love of his life, Erika Johnson.

John and Erika would go on to be married and have three biological children whom they loved dearly. Kyle was born in '83 Todd in '84 and Whitney in '86. Over the course of their 40-year story they did separate, only to reunite fifteen years later to which that same year their adopted daughter Terri joined the family.

Many years of happiness and memories followed until the passing of his beloved wife in Erika in 2018. Despite this however, John remained strong and a devoted father until his unexpected passing five years later almost to the day. John is lovingly survived by his four children, his four older siblings, Charles, Judy, Linda and Noel and his precious grandson Miles (Terri-Lee). He was predeceased by parents and soul mate Erika.
