Obituary of Erwin Mantei

Erwin Mantei, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of 92 years. 

Erwin was born in Berisina, Beserabia on December 26, 1930. He married Ingetraud Elfriede in 1952 in Stuttgart, Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1956.

Erwin enjoyed spending time in Arizona, going on cruises, fishing, and gardening. but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends and his dog Pico. 

He was extremely proud of the family trucking company he started in 1959. 

Erwin is lovingly remembered by his children, Jurgen Mantei (Nattacia), Armin Mantei (Gloria), Monica Brown (Steve), Ron Mantei (Sheryl); nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Klaus Homuth (Gloria), sister-in-law Donna Mantei and cousin Lilli Soldo (Drago). 

Erwin was predeceased by spouse Ingetraud (Inge), parents, Alfred and Emma (Kalish) Mantei, his brother Adolf Mantei, sister Erna and brother-in-law Rudy Stepper.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. (3219-4th street NW, Calgary, AB) at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Erwin’s family here.
