Ken Hildebrandt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 67 years.

 

Born on October 15, 1956, in the vibrant city of Calgary, Ken has been a lifelong resident, deeply connected to the city’s rich history. He loved his sports teams the Calgary Flames and Stampeders and faithfully cheered them on. He attended Sir Winston Churchill high school and completed his grade 11 and 12 at Rosthern Jr. College laying the foundation for his future endeavours and shaping his character and lifelong friendships.

 

Ken entered the workforce as a carpenter’s helper with his uncle Henry Braul and later with ATTCO construction building RTM trailers.

 

Ken found himself behind the wheel, navigating the streets of Calgary. His role as a Calgary Handi-Bus driver for 27 years demonstrated his commitment to community and accessibility. Embracing the open road, Ken embarked on a new adventure as a long-haul driver for Canada Cartage traversing the vast countries of Canada and US.

 

Returning to Calgary, Ken settled in Auburn Bay to be close to his parents. Ken took on a part time position as a spare driver for the Auburn Heights Retirement Residence. Guiding residents through scenic landscapes, he found fulfillment in bringing joy to those he served. Ken was a faithful, loyal, and dedicated caregiver for his parents, he lived a quiet simple life finding joy in his electronics, going to his favourite bakeries, chocolate shops and Chinese restaurants. We miss you, Ken. See you later buddy!

 

Ken was predeceased by his mother Anne Hildebrandt. He is survived by his father Harold Hildebrandt of Calgary, his sister Bonnie Friesen of Altona MB, his nieces and nephew, Janell, Eric, Tracey, and Laura Friesen of Winnipeg, and their father Greg of Altona. He is also survived by his many uncles and aunts, cousins, and good friends.
