Condolences
Karen was a very special person. Even though I only knew her for about a year, her passing leaves a huge hole in my heart and life.
I"ll never forget the scrabble games (I usually won) played on Saturday òr Sunday afternoons because we were so busy during the week. During one close game, she played the word"quiz"with the "q" on a triple letter and the word on a triple word for a word score of 126points and beating me by àbout 80 points!Karen was as gracious as victory às she was in defeat. She truly played for the love of the game.
To Karen’s family.
I met Karen through Ujamaas and we became close once four of us decided to bead together. And bead we did once a week for a couple of years. It was some of the most enjoyable times. I’ll always remember her irreverent sense of humour - some days we laughed more than beaded. Her nimble fingers produced many lovely pieces of jewelry, mostly earrings, for our sale. She was generous with her supply and her time. She also made sure we gathered periodically for lunch. We’ll all miss her. Brigitte
Karen was an important part of Ujamaa Grandmas. She was in charge of the crafts section of our huge Fabric &Yarn Sale until
she needed more time to spend with family. She worked with the jewellery section as well. I enjoyed the conversations I had with her in the basement of the church as we worked together on the sale. She did many things but, as should be done, she always put family first. A positive, kind lady. Ujamaa Grandmas and grandmothers in Africa benefitted from her positive attitude.
Morris and family,
On hearing of your loss, I know I speak on behalf of all the Robbie Burns table alumni in sharing our condolences and deepest sympathies to you and the family. Reading of Karen's life, loves and achievements, no doubt she was the spark in all of your lives. I know it gives little solace at this time of grief but rest assured the night sky now burns a little brighter with one more jewel in heaven.

Karen’s spirit will live on in the hearts of the many that knew and admired her. It just not seem real or possible. She was an amazing wife to Morris, an incredible/ inspirational Mom and mother-in -law, an awesome grandmother and a special friend. No words can express our in depth regret over her passing but we are grateful to have been a part of her life and left with wonderful, fun filled memories . Karen has passed to her family strength, never ending love for one another and positive energy. Our condolences to every one of you.
