Sending strength and love to all of Wendy’s family and friends. I was trying to think of where I met Wendy but I honestly can’t remember. Perhaps it was at CBC or CTV in the early 1990s, or on one of the many independent productions that so many in the Vancouver film community had their hands in around the same time. Either way, good fortune would keep our paths crossing over the years. We hadn’t spoken much since her move to Calgary but we kept up with each other on social media where her enjoyment of nature, her deep connection with her pups, and her love and dedication to friends and family was so evident. Her loss is deeply felt by so many, far and wide and is a testament to her amazing character. May her spirit be free and basking in sunlight and nature, wherever it may be.
Condolences to Wendy’s family and friends. Wendy was a kind and giving person. I worked with her on several NSI Storyhive projects and she always gave her all as a mentor. It’s very sad to hear of her passing.
So very sorry for this huge loss. I worked in "the Industry" with Wendy and clicked right away. She will be SO missed.

Wendy was a champion of others struggles, we spoke back in November about my own trauma, and she was a beacon of support to me. Last time we met she took me to my childhood home where her parents now live and we shared a meal. We joked about being each other’s longest running relationship, and of getting a house together in spring. I am sending love and support to everyone who has been shaken by Wendy’s passing. Sleep tight sweet friend.
Wendy was a stalwart and steadfast supporter of mine when I recently took on my first NSI STORYHIVE program. She cheered me on, taught me, encouraged me and was a brilliant mentor to her teams. I will miss her energy and fierce dedication to the arts. She was one of a kind, in the best way.
My deepest condolences to the Hyamm family. Wendy was a real friend to me when I first came to Vancouver. She and Nathaniel graciously let me produce On the Corner alongside them and we made a beautiful film. I learned a lot from her, and her incredible heart was something I marvelled at. I will miss her light, laughter and ability to make me smile through any adversity. She was one of a kind.
Comfort to all those who loved Wendy. I met her when she was a Program Manager at NSI. We had so many great chats about the films, the people. She was a real champion of creativity and loving humans. She will be missed. Jill Sharpe
The hearts of the team at the National Screen Institute are filled with sadness. Wendy's passion to serve, combined with her big, open heart, curious mind and generous spirit made her a mentor extraordinaire. Her commitment to guide and support storytellers through the production process was unwavering and enduring. Wendy made a difference.
In a message written by Wendy in 2021, she included a link to Sarah McLachlan's version of the Prayer of St. Francis. We share this together in the circle of Wendy's family and friends along with our heartfelt condolences.

My memory of Wendy is of an ‘old soul’ able to spot suffering . A unique inspiring person full of enthusiasm, she made an impact whenever she walked into a space. She dearly loved her parents and family and will be missed by many in the recovery community. RIP Wendy hope you meet up with Rosie

Wendy was a beautiful soul. Everything she undertook
arise from her spirituality and love of life. She was thrilled to see other people recovering a good life and their sense of self worth. She will be terribly missed by many.
My condolences to family and friends of Wendy. She was a strong voice in the recovery community, advocate, feminist etc… I remember Wendy to be full of light, love and connection… may she rest in peace and may we continue to fight for all the things she believed in…. So very sad :(.
