Obituary of Emilio Luigi Bruno

February 10, 1945 – Castelsilano, Italy

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Emilio Luigi Bruno announces his passing on Wednesday, December 27, at the age of 78 years.

Emilio was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Castelsilano, Italy, he and his beloved wife Rosa immigrated to Canada in 1966, where they built a life together and raised their family.

Emilio's legacy extends beyond his four children, Rina, Joe, John (predeceased), and Dino, to the vibrant community of Calgary. As the founder of a construction company, he played a pivotal role in shaping the city's skyline, leaving an indelible mark on its landscape.

Retiring at 65, Emilio embraced the joys of life; spending winters in Mexico soaking up the sun, enjoying rounds of golf and fishing with friends, and gardening. Yet nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family. His last Christmas was a cherished moment celebrated with all his family: daughter Rina (Vinnie) and her children, Maria and Cassandra; son Joe (Connie) and their children, Rosalee, Emilio, and Victoria; granddaughter Alycia, and son Dino (Kelly), and their children, Ella and Roman.

Emilio is predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Maria; brothers, Giovanni, Salvatore, and Francesco; sister Caterina, and his son John.

His memory will live on through the love and laughter he shared with those fortunate enough to be a part of his life.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Parish (404 Northmount Place NW, Corner of 4th Street & Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at Queen's Park Mausoleum (3219 4 St NW, Calgary, AB).
