Obituary of Kylen Aric Young
December 26, 1987 – December 28, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Kylen “Brother” Aric Young. Born on December 26, 1987, to his loving parents Aaron and Angela Young.
Kylen, affectionately known as “Brother” to everyone, was truly a brother to all who knew him. From the moment he entered this world, it was clear that Brother's nickname was meant to be. He embodied all the characteristics of what a brother should be - a distinct smile that could light up any room, a sense of humour that could bring joy to even the toughest of times, and a kind and humble nature that touched the hearts of those around him. Brother was a man of integrity, always showing respect and dedication in everything and to everyone. His character was an inspiration to us all. One of Brother’s greatest passions was powwow singing and dancing. He had a natural talent and a deep love for his traditional values. His love for powwows led him to his travels across Canada and the USA. Beyond his cultural roots and identity, Kylen also worked in the trades, specifically carpentry work in Calgary.
Starting from a young age, Brother lived life adventurously. He was a risk-taker, always seeking new experiences and embracing the unknown. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his natural athleticism. Brother excelled at every sport he tried, leaving an impression on those who witnessed his talent. Outside of his love for powwow music, Brother had a special affinity for hip-hop music, particularly the works of Tupac. His passion for music brought joy to his life and served as a source of inspiration.
Above all, Brother’s pride and joy was his son, Kylen Jr. He loved his son immensely and cherished every moment they spent together. Brother always strived to make his son happy and loved.
Brother is survived by his son, Kylen Jr. His parents Angela and Aaron. His brothers Aaron Jr. (Kalena) and Gabriel (Randi), and his sister Noelle (Brendon).
