Obituary of Debbie Anne Westland

Debbie Westland (nee Forchuk), of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

Debbie was born in Rocky Mountain House, AB, on February 7, 1958. In 2004, she made Airdrie her home with her partner John Westland. In 2016, Debbie and John married, out at their property west of Airdrie. A vibrant soul, Debbie found immense pleasure in exploration, be it through the lens of travel, the tranquility of camping, or the excitement of embarking on new business ventures. Her passion for travel was unparalleled and became a defining aspect of her vibrant spirit.

Besides her loving husband, Debbie is survived by her four daughters, Nadine (Steven) Achtemichuk of High River, AB and their two children, Brandon Bebe of Kelowna, BC, and Kirstin Nikirk of The Netherlands; Chrysta Dawn Nikirk of Victoria, BC, and her three children, Areya Nikirk of Saskatoon, SK, and Tenessa and Teesha Nikirk of Victoria, BC; Candace (Scott) Nickel of Maple Ridge, BC, and their children Olivia and Kaitlyn; and Adele (Evan) Mahoney and their three children, Totiana Sedens and Brooklyn and Mateo Mahoney.

Debbie is also survived by her younger brother Robbie and her two sisters, Malora, and Mary, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Debbie was predeceased by her late husband, Gary Sedens, in 1994.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive) on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the home of John and Debbie. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Westland’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
