Obituary of Kenneth Albert Marchand

February 16, 1936 - January 1, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth “Ken” Albert Marchand on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the age of 87 years following a brief illness.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anne, children, Scott (Sharon), Andrea (Neal) and Courtney, as well as grandchildren, Pierce, Elianna, Riley and Ethan.

Ken was born in Oakburn, MB, one of twelve children, and raised in Winnipeg. He and Anne moved to Calgary in 1965 to be near the mountains and pursue their shared passion of skiing and to raise their family. He was an independent life insurance underwriter until his early 80’s.

Ken will be remembered for his positive influence during his many years coaching Skimeisters (alpine skiing) and Cyclemeisters of Calgary, and for his sense of humour. He was inducted into the Canadian Rockies Ski Racing Hall of Fame for his Lifetime Achievement.

Ken was very proud of his family and cherished spending time together. He will be greatly missed by his family and his treasured friends.
