Obituary of Tetsuo Yoshida
June 16, 1935 - Chemainus, British Columbia
January 3, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Tetsuo “Ted” Yoshida, beloved husband of Jean Ginko Yoshida (nee Tomiyama), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 88 years.
Ted was born in Chemainus, BC, on June 16, 1935. He was relocated to Tashme, BC, and sent to Kamloops, BC, where he would graduate from Kamloops High School. After a few years of discovering what his purpose was, he decided to attend Palmer College in Davenport, IA, where he graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). Shortly after, Ted began his practice in Calgary, AB, and continued to practice for 51 years.
Ted married Jean in 1980. He was a member of several associations, namely the Chiropractic Association of Alberta, the Acupuncture Association, the Calgary Japanese Language School, the Rotary Club, and Kotobuki Seniors Club, where he often volunteered. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Son, and Gold and Silver Rays citation and medal from the Consul General of Japan.
He will be most remembered for his healing abilities. He wasn't just a chiropractor; to most, he was a “healer”.
Ted is survived by his stepson Cameron Blech, his beautiful granddaughters, Jessica and Mikayla; stepsister Anna (Barry), Kato of Kamloops, BC, sister-in-law Setsuko Yoshida of Winnipeg, MB, as well as the Tomiyama families, and many nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by his father Chiyoki and mother Mitsu, stepmother Tsugie, wife Jean, brothers, Hidewo, Yoshio (Hatsue), and Suyeki (Lorna); sisters Haruka (Mickey) Yokome, and Midori Yoshida; and nephews, Patrick and Stanley Yoshida.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers and Koden, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Parkinson Association of Alberta, #120, 6835 Railway St SE Calgary T2H 2V6, www.parkinsonalberta.ca.
As per Ted’s wishes, a Private Funeral Service will be held for immediate family members.
