Ken Mossfeldt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
Ken was born in Calgary, AB, on April 16, 1937. In early life Ken was an avid sports enthusiast and excelled as Netminder for numerous community teams all the way to Junior hockey level.
Ken was married in the late 50's and raised two sons and brought to them his passion for organized sports and competitive pursuits. He also worked as an oil scout for Home Oil in the 60's which led him to many up-north ventures in this line of work.
Ken was very involved and took pride in the Triwood Community Association in NW Calgary where he would often shovel the rink ice, coach hockey and sponsor golf clinics. Ken truly enjoyed the camaraderie of the community and helped from the onset to assist in the prolific success of the programs.
Ken and his wife Carol enriched each other's lives and spent many years together.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Carol (nee Fairley); sister Marilyn Lee; two sons, Greg (TL) Mossfeldt of Fernie, BC, and Mark (Janet) Mossfeldt of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Melissa Mossfeldt, Steve (Danielle) Mossfeldt, Kyle (Jenna) Mossfeldt, and Jody Mossfeldt; and four beautiful great-grandchildren, Mila, Oskar, Blakely, and Easton Mossfeldt of Calgary, AB. Ken also survived by his lifelong friend Barrie Cyr.
Ken was predeceased by his father and mother, Oscar and Jennie Mossfeldt; sisters, Evelyn Shierman and Betty Marks; grandson Nathan Mossfeldt; and mother of his children Barbara Ann Butterfield.
