Obituary of David Bagley

August 13, 1930 - Vancouver, British Columbia

January 5, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Our beloved father, Howard David, passed away peacefully in Calgary, surrounded by his family and is now reunited with his late wife and soul mate Dorothy Patience.  Their journey began when they met at the Ramblers Hiking Club hiking Norquay and Vermilion Lakes. Their ventures expanded to include camping, gardening, reading poetry, hiking in Kananaskis and daily walks at the Glenmore Reservoir.  Dave and Dorothy would greet everyone with a hello and a smile on these walks and many of those people became cherished friends.

David was born in Vancouver, BC and moved to Springbank as a child where he grew up on a farm. He graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary. He completed his Master of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Alberta and had a rewarding career in the Oil and Gas industry.  He worked on many interesting projects all over the world including in Calgary, Houston, and Brazil.

David was a devoted family man.  He was the loving father of six children Jonathan (Sheila), Frances (Bruce), Martin (Kim), Anne (Michael), Heather, and Rosina (Jay); and a cherished grandfather to twelve, Benjamin, Zachary, Sarah, Kyle, Sophie, Alexandra, Ella, Evan, Skylar, Aiden, Julia, and Linden.  David had a meaningful impact on his family and will be forever remembered with gratitude and admiration.  His kindness, patience and wisdom will be dearly missed.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by love and memories he created, leaving an enduring legacy in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him father, grandfather, and friend.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. with the Reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Bagley’s service streamed live on the day of the service (see below). For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with David’s family here.
