Obituary of Boris Walter Gregorchuk

November 1, 1937 – January 5, 2024

Boris Walter Gregorchuk of Calgary, Alberta passed away suddenly on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the age of 86 years.

Boris was born on November 1, 1937 in Vita, Manitoba. He married the love of his life, Gloria (nee Reid) in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 8, 1962. Their honeymoon was spent moving to Calgary or as he always referred to it as “God’s Country”. Together, they had two beautiful daughters.

Boris was predeceased by his daughter Colleen and will be dearly missed by his wife Gloria, his daughter June (Bruce), son-in-law Vince and grandchildren, Nicole (Mike), Nathan (Katarina), Nick (Madyson) and Raylene. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, as well as many nieces and nephews.

His absence will also be felt deeply by the many friends he made over the years while driving truck, working, and playing at the golf course, enjoying the warmth in the winter months in Arizona and by being a kindhearted and helpful neighbor. Boris lived a life full of love and laughter. He was the person in everyone's life that they could depend on to point them in the right direction, even if it was unsolicited. He would also graciously offer support when it was needed even when you didn’t realize you needed it yourself. He was always up for a good conversation to pass the time, especially if a good glass of wine, a cold beer or cup of coffee was included.

Boris loved to share the experiences and lessons he acquired from life on the farm and the endeavors he faced on the many roads he had traveled. He pushed everyone, especially his grandchildren, to do their best and not to give up on a challenge or when things got hard. He was so incredibly proud of the many accomplishments, small or big, of his family and he sang their praises to anyone that was willing to listen to his stories and memories. Boris was a loving and devoted husband, Dad, Gigi (grandfather) and friend and although he is no longer with us, we will forever cherish the memories, stories and lessons that he has shared and has given us over the years.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Boris’s family here.
