Condolences
On behalf of the CBEREA book club I would like to send belated condolences to Margaret's family. We enjoyed her insights and shared many good times discussing books. She was a delight and enriched many lives.
We were neighbours of the Kuyts on Conrad drive.
I remember playing in the backyard with Adam and AVERIL. Margaret would always have some wonderful
European desert that tasted wonderful and exotic to me.
I remember Margaret being a strong , smart woman who watched over her children and provided a good home
for them.
May Margaret Rest In Peace and know she will be remembered fondly.
We are sorry for your loss. Bill Schlegel and Schlegel Family.
Mrs. Kuyt was a formidable person, but was also one of the kindest people I have known. She was a great cook. Her meals were phenomenal in terms of the variety of cuisines ( Indonesian (nasi goreng anyone?), Dutch, Italian, British, Canadian) she had mastered and in terms of the extremely generous serving sizes.
Her chocolate cake was legendary!
Her precise diction and Welsh accent marked her as unique in Calgary. Like my mother she came from the UK to what was at time a somewhat unsophisticated small city on the prairies. This was not an easy thing to do when my mother arrived in Calgary in 1945 and it wasn’t much easier when Mrs. Kuyt arrived ten years later. Like my mother, Mrs Kuyt overcame challenges head on and was unstoppable.
I was so lucky to have known Mrs Kuyt. She was always full of fun and was a first-rate conversationalist. Her knowledge of music, history, art, current affairs, and so much more was impressive.
Although I have been in Toronto for well- over a decade, I will always have fond memories of the many fantastic dinners, Andrew’s birthday parties, and other events held in the comfortable and extremely tidy house on Conrad Drive.
We were all better for having known Mrs Kuyt.
With deepest sympathy to all of the family,
Bob, Ada, and Brendan Lawrence
I have so many wonderful memories of my times with Margaret. She often had me over for lunch and interesting chats when I came to Calgary and we often saw each other over the years I’ll always remember her mischievous look and grin and interesting conversations. I’ve been fortunate to be good friends with her daughter Averil for over fifty years. Margaret will be missed and my family sends condolences and hugs to you all.
Adam and family, I have great memories of you Mom when we were in high school and university. Sending condolences from all the Marshall kids, Lee, Kathy and Scott.

Kip and I were saddened to learn of Margaret's passing. We ( Paula and Kip) tried to reach out in December to speak to Margaret but found Margaret had moved from her residence in Scenic Scares.
I especially have many great memories of working with Marg at the former Children's Hospital in Calgary, visiting Marg in her lovely home in Charleswood on the hill and having coffee together. One of our last coffees together gave us many laughs.
Let me set the scene. Here are two women ,one who is older ,Marg, one who is much younger in age and appearance, Paula , busy laughing and talking together and having coffee. ( She always called me Luvie ). We were approached by a young women. This woman bypasses Margaret and tells me that I needed a lid for my coffee. Then she leaves. We looked at each other and burst into laughter. You had to have been there.
Kip and I offer our deepest sympathies to all of you.
Paula and Kip Hermann Ottawa Ontario
