February 11, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Sheila Kirley, beloved wife of John “Jack” Kirley, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 93 years.
Sheila was born in Bilaspur, India on July 19, 1930. Sheila graduated from university in India with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She was a devout Catholic and always contributed to helping others in need beyond her role as a registered nurse.
After a short stay in Sarnia, Ontario, Shiela moved to Calgary, Alberta, and began work at the Holy Cross Hospital where she quickly established her reputation for professional competency. She also volunteered for Rosedale Hospice and Hospice Calgary for twenty years.
In 1988, Sheila married John “Jack” Kirley. One might say that it was a long awaited, “Marriage made in Heaven!” Together they would enjoy travelling, outdoor activities, and time at the “cabin”.
Shelia loved people! She enjoyed hiking and golf. She had many dinner parties. Mostly she loved gathering her family and friends together to create special bonds and memories. Sheila loved to travel; her favorite destination was England where she loved to see the English countryside.
Sheila is survived by her nieces, Sonya and Neena Joseph, Alison Harris, and Kelly Sen. Sheila was predeceased by husband Jack Kirley, parents, Mary and Victor Herbert Joseph; her four brothers, George Joseph, Leo Joseph, Terrence Joseph, and Denzel Joseph; and her sister Marie Joseph.
We would like to thank Greg and Sharon Campbell, Marilyn Jansen, Debbie Steele, and Mark and Louise Phipps for your dedication to Sheila’s wellbeing to the very last day. Thank you to all the staff at Mayfair Care Center for all their love and care of Sheila.
Sheila’s favourite saying was, “No act of kindness however small is ever wasted.” She will be remembered for her kindness and compassion towards everyone around her.
