Condolences
Grace, grace, God's Grace! Mrs. Hanley, you embodied what a life well-lived looks like. Thank you for tolerating all us kids in your home. You (and Mr. Hanley) were a gift to us kids. You both made this world a better place to be in and I thank you for that. <3
Us Armstrongs were so blessed when we moved into #8 Stanley Place where the Hanleys and Christensens were already established at #4 and #6. To spend your whole childhood and teen years living a few doors away from your best friends is a beautiful gift…and we had 3 sets of parents to love and care for us! We really had so much fun just going to and from school, all the sports we did together and the many trips to the Sylvan Lake cabins…life was so very wonderful! Mrs Hanley often took my mom shopping and to Woodwards for coffee and wheatgerm muffins, and I clearly remember being in her orange VW wagon in the parking lot when we heard Elvis died. Countless haircuts and perms were given, meals were shared, and Mr Hanley was the only one I let pull out my teeth because he was so kind and gentle. Because of the Hanley’s influence I attended First Assembly with my family and asked Jesus into my heart at a young age. And from that, all 6 of my kids are still serving Jesus…so for that I’m eternally grateful! Mrs Hanley, you are dearly loved, missed and will forever be remembered and cherished in my heart! Tanis (Armstrong) Sloboda
Grace Hanley first and foremost modelled being a lover and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. She displayed this by being an amazing wife, mother, leader and friend.
I was honoured to be one of her friends. She had a major influence in my life. Her giftings in leadership and hospitality were two of my favourites. I still have recipes in her handwriting-some to feed as many as 65.
Love you Grace
You are missed here but well done good and faithful servant
1 Peter 4:9-10: “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” God blessed Grace with the gift of hospitality. Grace and Wally loved to entertain their friends with beautiful dinner parties. It was always fun to go to one of Grace’s parties as she was an amazing chef! Grace also had a deep concern for those less fortunate. In February 2000 Grace started a group where ladies would gather to knit and do other projects. The group grew as many ladies joined and continued to make many things. It was eventually called ‘Care and Share’ and, after the many items multiplied, it was decided to bless people in Gautemala with the beautiful contributions from the ladies. Huge containers of items were filled and shipped to help children in orphanages and new mothers in hospitals with baby layettes. Grace didn’t realize what would result since beginning that group in 2000. God blessed her efforts, along with all those who participated over the years. 24 years later ‘Care and Share’ is still filling containers being sent to Gautemala. Grace was a wonderful friend and we spent many happy times together. She will be missed by many. Irene and Ernie Campbell, Kelowna, BC
