Ernest Stanley Radcliffe passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Calgary, AB, the city of his birth. Born on May 27, 1926, to Joseph and Claire Radcliffe, Ernie lived a life dedicated to faith, and the pursuit of knowledge.
Ernie’s dedication to his spiritual calling was evident from an early age. After completing his education, he was ordained at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Calgary in 1953, embarking on a lifelong commitment to serving others.
Following his six-year military service as a Naval Chaplain in the Royal Canadian Navy, Ernie established himself in Washington State, where he spent most of his career. His work history reflected his passion for spirituality and his desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Through his work in Washington, Ernie touched the hearts of countless individuals, offering guidance, compassion, and a listening ear to all who crossed his path.
While Ernie was a man of devotion and unwavering faith, he also had a playful and jovial side. Those who knew him well will remember his great sense of humor, always finding a way to lighten the hearts of those around him. He also had an insatiable curiosity and was known to be a collector of all things, amassing a wealth of knowledge and treasures throughout his lifetime.
Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Doreen (Rex) Crofts and Ilene Constant, as well as his nephew, Colin Constant.
He is survived by his nephews and niece, Malcolm (Carolin) Crofts, Chris (Joanne) Crofts, and Sandi Barron, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. They take solace in the knowledge that his spirit will live on through their shared memories.
Ernie also leaves behind a community and congregation who have been profoundly impacted by his presence. His guidance, wisdom, and genuine care for others have forever shaped the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. May the Reverend Ernest Stanley Radcliffe find eternal peace and rest, knowing that his life has forever impacted the hearts of those he left behind.
