Obituary of Richard Vincent Boccalon
July 16, 1941 – Pasiano, Provincia di Pordenone, Italy
January 13, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Richard “Adelchi” Boccalon, beloved husband of Marlene Boccalon (nee Wyllie), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the age of 82 years.
Richard was born in Pasiano, Italy, on July 16, 1941. He immigrated to Halifax, Canada by the ship T/S ATLANTIC on March 22, 1951, and then moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario. Richard married his wife, Marlene Dianna Wyllie, on July 29, 1961. In the mid-sixties, they moved to Calgary, AB, where they raised three children.
As Richard’s career was as a meat manager, he enjoyed making his homemade sausages and Italian cuisines. He loved to be referred to as “Pops” and his famous sayings were “Just relax” and “Eat”.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Lorelei Boccalon (Gary) of Calgary, AB, and Jennifer Boersema (Martin) of Burlington, ON; four grandchildren, Daniel Boccalon (Ashley) of Calgary, AB, Ashley and Amber (Ray) Boersema of Burlington, ON, Tina Boccalon (John) of Comox, BC, and ten great-grandchildren.
Richard was predeceased by his loving wife Marlene, his son, Robby Boccalon, his mother and father, Maria and Giovanni Boccalon; his brother, Domenico Boccalon, and his two sisters, Nevis Marion and Giovanina Cooper.
He will be most remembered for his beautiful smile, his laughter, his generosity, and his sense of humor.
Pops, you will be forever in our hearts.
