Obituary of Gayda Joan Watt

February 14, 1944 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

January 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of Gayda Joan Watt (née Brisbin), who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Calgary, AB.

 

Gayda was born in Winnipeg, MB, on Valentine’s Day in 1944. She grew up in Brandon, MB, with her parents George and Mabel Brisbin, and her brother Scott Brisbin.

 

Gayda was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her brother Scott (Calli), of Sherwood Park, AB; and her sons Roger (Heather) and Dean (Sheri), of Calgary, AB, and Jeff (Johanna) of Bragg Creek, AB; as well as her grandchildren Ella, Olivia, Madeline, Shawna-Ann, Hannah, Cat, and Evan; and her nephew David (Lisa), and niece Dallyce (Scott).

 

Gayda will be remembered fondly by her family and close friends for her sense of humour and optimism, even in the face of the most trying of challenges. She was also known for her artistry; our lives and homes have been enriched by her beautiful paintings.

 

Gayda’s family wishes to express our deepest thanks to the wonderful medical and care staff in the Crowfoot Unit of Bow View Manor Calgary.

 

A Celebration of Gayda’s Life will be held for her at a future date.
