Loraine Neuman of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 95 years.

Loraine was born in Leduc, AB on December 8, 1928, and moved to Calgary in 1968. She was raised on the family farm. Her journeys over the years took her through small towns of Alberta before moving to Calgary.

She was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church of Calgary, a passionate gardener, and a member of CRAGS. Loraine’s talents were vast. She had many career paths, with her longest being a physiotherapy aid in the burn unit at the old Calgary Children’s Hospital. Loraine enjoyed and loved being close and sharing time with her family and friends.

Loraine’s travels were extensive in her younger years including a trip to Europe with church members, a trip to Hawaii with friends, an Alaskan cruise and the Maritimes with extended family, numerous camping excursions, and adventures of a hot air balloon ride to celebrate her 60^th birthday. Loraine enjoyed nature hikes, cross-country skiing, and numerous sewing and quilting projects.

She will be most remembered for her devout faith in Christ, her love of family, her friendly smile, and her wit.

Loraine is survived by six children, Patricia (Brian) Gardiner of Vancouver, Glenn (Priscilla Payne) Phillips of Armstrong, BC, Marie (Rudi) Schoenberg of Calgary, AB, James Scott (Kathy) Phillips of Calgary, AB, Marguerite (David) Reid of Carstairs, AB, and Elizabeth (Trent) Gahan of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren, Carissa Schoenberg of Calgary, AB, Thomas (Julia) Reid of Airdrie, AB, Cori (Amanda Reid) Schoenberg of Calgary, AB, Lain Rae (Ryan) Henzel of Leduc, AB, Ellie and Hailey Gahan of Calgary, AB; six great-grandchildren, Ethan and Willow Schoenberg, Hadley, Sawyer, and Oaklynn Reid, and Skyler Henzel. Loraine is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy Hirsekorn, Raymond (Bunny) Neiman, Richard (Mardonne) Neiman, and their families.

Funeral Services will be held at First Lutheran Church (Corner of Strathcona Boulevard. & 14th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.  Reception to follow in the Gymnasium at the Church. As per her wishes, she is being cremated with interment at a later date.
