Obituary of John Rodak

January 20, 1930 - Peterson, Saskatchewan

January 16, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, we lost the kindest and most gentle man. JR was an amazing father, grandpa, and friend. He passed away suddenly in the company of loved ones, at the age of 93 years.

JR was a dedicated father who treasured his children and grandchildren and was always there with a helping hand to assist in fixing anything or offering a drive for anyone in need. Yes, shy of his 94th birthday by only four days, JR’s driver’s license was recently renewed for another three years, only weeks before he passed. He lived totally independent in his own home, never burdening anyone, but rather always there to help anyone right up to his final day. He especially loved his wife of 62 and a half years, building many memories together, following the sunshine in their motorhome, or on a cruise ship.

JR is now in God’s loving care. He is gone but will live on forever in our hearts.

He will be forever missed by his loving family, Lori (Clayton), Sari (Gord), Gina (Reg), and Jace (Jan); his seven grandchildren, Matthew (Kari), Megan (Taylor), Paige, Tommy, Jasmine, Jett, and Jordan; and his great-grandchild Samuel. He is also survived by his nephew’s wife, Mary Kalist and her family. He was predeceased by his wife Clara in 2019, and daughter Tami in 2005, they are now together again.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
