John Sidney Gale, beloved husband of Patricia “Pat” Gale (nee Liversuch) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of his family.

John was born in Calgary, AB, on December 28, 1937. On June 14, 1974, he married Pat, becoming a cherished part of her life and welcoming five stepchildren into his heart. With his biological son, Mike, this expanded their family to six children, consisting of three boys and three girls.

His dedication to his work was evident in his 37.5 years of service with CP Rail, where he found joy and fulfillment. John's passion for trains was a defining aspect of his life, and his commitment to his career was unwavering.

Beyond his professional life, John found solace and enjoyment in his hobbies. He was an avid participant in dart games and bowling, activities that brought him both competition and camaraderie.

Sunday drives were a cherished tradition for John and Pat, who shared a love for exploring the countryside. His enthusiasm for the open road extended to camping adventures, creating lasting memories during summers spent towing a tent trailer with Pat and their six children in tow.

John will be dearly missed by his son Mike, and his stepchildren, Jamie (Howard), Corinna, Brian, Ray (Noreen), and Daisy (Mike). His legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his immediate family, John is survived by his sister Judy, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His warm and generous spirit touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Calgary Crematorium, 3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
