Obituary of Brittany Caprice Gil

It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Brittany Gil, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 25 years.

Brittany was a full-time student at the University of Calgary. Having already received an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy, she was continuing her education in the hopes of becoming a professor in Film Studies. She was also a member of the Film Society.

Brittany had a deep love and passion to the Arts. There was never a moment she didn’t seize to have a conversation of how art and life intersect. Whether it was the movies she watched, the books she read, or the music she listened too, (all in the company of her beloved cats), Brittany was always looking for deeper meaning, connection, and understanding in life.

Brittany was a thoughtful and compassionate person; more of an old soul than one so young. She will be most remembered by her family for her unique personality, and for always being true to herself and what she believed in.

Brittany may have not had the opportunity to accomplish everything she had planned for in her life, but her family is proud of what she did achieve in the time she had, as well as what she was working towards. We have no doubt that she would have found a way to make those plans come to life.

Brittany was beloved by her family and will be incredibly missed. She is survived by her mother Esmeralda and her father Henrique of Calgary, AB. Brittany is also survived by her sister Monique of Calgary, AB, and her brother Christopher, sister-in-law Jennifer, and their children of Calgary, AB, as well as numerous loved ones in Toronto, Montreal, and the Acores.
