Obituary of Elsie Tebrake

Elsie Tebrake of Calgary, AB, peacefully went to heaven with her family by her side on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 86 years.

Elsie was born in Heerenveen, Holland on September 11, 1937, and immigrated to Canada in 1950 with her family.

Elsie is survived by her children, Joyce (Bill) Thiessen, Frank, Linda (Greg) Garbutt, Jo-Ann (Anthony) Potter, and Sandra (Bruce) Baylis; six grandchildren, Michael (Chantele), Christina (Russ), Crystal (Daniel), Michelle, Daniel (Leah), Jessica (Joel); four great-grandchildren, Austin, Brooklyn, Mikaila, Lucy; four brothers, and two sisters. She was predeceased by her grandson Christopher, her mother Aukje, her father John, two brothers, and a sister.

Although mom would often claim she was not a social person, she drew people to her wherever she went, creating many friendships over the years. She was always helpful and often noticed the small things that needed to be done. Her love of reading, crossword puzzles, word searches, and jigsaw puzzles kept her busy and her mind active.

A special thank you to the staff at Millrise Seniors Village for the loving and kind care they provided to mom. You made her last months very special.

As per Elsie's wishes, there will be a private family memorial. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Elsie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
