Obituary of Frances Corrine Bryson

March 22, 1946 – Haileybury, Ontario

January 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Frances Bryson (nee Sauve), beloved wife of Dale Bryson, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 77 years.

 

Frances was born in Haileybury, ON, on March 22, 1946. She graduated from Laurentian University with a teaching certificate. She went on to teach in Foleyet, ON, Cobalt, ON, and Snow Lake, MB.

 

Frances married Dale in 1969. They made their first home in Snow Lake, MB, where their eldest daughter Nicole was born. They then moved to Kenora, ON, Grande Falls, NL, where their second daughter Monique was born, and then on to Kamloops, BC, Cranbrook, BC, and finally to Calgary, AB.

 

Once moving to Calgary, Frances became the secretary for St. Cecilia’s school, where she worked for over twenty years. It was there she made some of her closest and longest lasting friendships and was able to interact with the children which gave her much joy.

 

Frances enjoyed gardening, baking, bird watching, walking, reading, puzzling, and visiting with friends. Over the years she tried her hand at many crafting projects. She knit, crocheted, sewed, did paper tole, and scrapbooking.

 

She will be most remembered for her fierce protection of family and for her loving and selfless nature.

 

Besides her loving husband, Frances is survived by her two daughters, Nicole Bryson (Ken Doerksen) and Monique Bryson (Oliver Bargetzi); her grandson Damon Bryson, and her dog Mazie, all of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her brother Gilbert (Wendy) Sauve of North Cobalt, ON, brother and sisters-in-law, Glen and Lois Bryson of Denare Beach, SK, and Leon and Margaret Koldingnes of Chilliwack, BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 

Frances was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Albertine Sauve; brothers, Bernard and Marc Sauve; and her sister Denise Sauve.

 

The family would like to thank Helen Davies and the Palliative care team, including the nurses from Para Med, Southwood Hospice, Dr. Sasha Lupichuk, and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their care of Frances.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E., Calgary AB) on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the Church.
