Obituary of Lillian Eileen Carlson

June 29, 1936 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

January 20, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce that Lillian Eileen Carlson (nee Cross) of Calgary, AB, and a former long-time resident of Penticton, BC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the age of 87.

Lillian was born June 29, 1936, in Winnipeg, the daughter of Thomas and Lillian Cross.  After moving to Vancouver as a young girl, she met and later married Dale Carlson on June 12, 1954.  They and their three children, Julie, Mark, and Susan, settled in Penticton in October 1973. She recently moved to Calgary after 50 years in Penticton to be closer to family.

Lillian is survived by daughters, Julie and Susan (Terry), son Mark, seven grandchildren, Shaun (Jennifer), Jennifer (Matt), Jaymee (Kyle), Julia, Katie (Quentin), Ava, and Mia; and four great-granddaughters, Alivia, Lily, Fiona, and Nora. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, William and Edward, her husband Dale in 2001, and her later partner in life, Ivan Messmer, in 2015.

A Celebration of Lillian’s Life will be held in Penticton at a later date.
