Obituary of Tyleena Brittany Dixon

We announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece and friend, Tyleena Brittany Dixon, at the age of 29 years.

 

Tyleena was very respectful, friendly, humble, and had a quiet nature. She was very artistic and loved to do beadwork, writing, and artwork. She loved spending time with her siblings and mother. She especially loved her children. She also enjoyed travelling to rodeos, pow-wows, attending cultural events and ceremonies, and spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting.

 

Tyleena received her education, attending elementary and middle school in Cremona, AB. She went on to attended high school at Canmore Colligate and Morley Community School.

 

Tyleena was raised with traditional beliefs and values of the Nakoda Culture. She especially respected the Sundance Ceremony. She was partially raised in the foster care system, but later on, was reunited back with her family and her culture.

 

Tyleena is survived by her three children, Cimmaron, Tucker, and Cruz. She is also survived by the father of her boys, Butch Holloway, her beloved mother Evelyn Dixon, sisters, Evandra, Jaylana (Garrick), Triana, and Kayden (Drake); her adopted sister Eldana Rollinmud and her son Koda Rollinmud; her one brother Kaleb, maternal grandmothers, Rena Dixon, Diane (Myron) Dixon, and Theresa Dixon; Corrina, and Tammy; aunts, Viola and Marietta Dixon; maternal grandfathers, Harvey Dixon, Darcy (Kathy) Dixon and Bruce Dixon; paternal grandfather Watson Kaquitts Sr. (Brenda); paternal grandmothers, Donna Kaquitts and Alice Kaquitts; her aunts, Cindy, Sabrina (Jason), Deanna (Charles), Francine (Anthony), Chantel (Billy)\, Rachel (Cedric), and Lisa; her uncles, Watson Jr. (Shania), Alvin, Jesse, and Frank (Tracy); her in-laws, Homer (Sheila) Holloway; brothers-in-law, Graham (Christina), Todd (Tia); sisters-in-law, Josephine (Clyde). She will also be lovingly remembered by numerous relatives from the Dixon, Powderface, Kaquitts, Chiniquay, Ear, Labelle, Kootenay, Poucette, Bearspaw, and Holloway families.

Tyleena was predeceased by her father Orville “Bee” Powderface, her sister Verneshia “Big Girl” Dixon, her paternal grandmother Norma Powderface, her uncles, Roderick Powderface and Johnny Kaquitts; her aunts, Claudine Powderface, Buffy Kaquitts, and Arressa Powderface; paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Caroline Powderface; maternal great-grandmother Dorris Dixon, maternal grandfather Alvin Ear, maternal great-great-grandparents, Paul Sr. and Florence Dixon; and her paternal great-great-grandparents, Josiah and Alice Kaquitts.

 

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Evelyn Dixon (Morley, AB) on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Bearspaw Youth Center, (Morley, AB) on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Holloway Family Cemetery (Morley, AB). A Traditional Feast to follow at the Bearspaw Youth Center, (Morley, AB).
