Obituary of Irene Elizabeth Lamers

Irene Lamers of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

Irene was born to William and Eva Seib in Regina, SK, on October 19, 1934. She married Harold Lamers, the boy next door, on December 29, 1954. He was the love of her life, and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Irene and Harold moved to Calgary in 1991, and along the way, also spent many happy times in Alsask, SK, and Las Vegas, NV.

Irene was an accomplished homemaker and talented artist. She and her family traveled extensively, highlighted by a two year stay in Germany where Harold taught at the US Air Force Base in Ramstein. One of her favourite sayings was “This too shall pass.” Practical advice for most challenging situations.

Irene is survived by her two daughters, Patti Lee (Ronald) Davison of Calgary, and Leslie Anne (Michael) Forbis of Lynnwood, WA.; five grandchildren, Kimberley (Myles) Constable of Vancouver, BC, Chelsea (Jimmy) Tersmette of Calgary, AB, Ashley (Nathan) Peterson of Calgary, AB, Cameron (Melissa) Forbis, Logan (Tara) Forbis; and great-grandchildren, Aurora, Oliver, Wilder, Xavier, Brady and Theodore.
