Michael Shawn Bulger passed away unexpectedly at the Foothills Medical Centre, surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the age of 58 years.

Michael’s greatest legacy will be his generosity of helping others, the gift of his time and patience that extended to family, friends, and all that knew him. Always a teacher, he was willing to take the time to share his knowledge. He touched and inspired countless students’ lives while teaching and coaching school sport teams throughout his career with the Calgary Catholic School District.

Michael loved spending time outdoors with Wendy, whether it was cross-country skiing, walking the dogs, hiking, or working in their yard. Some of the most special family memories with their children, included camping adventures and special trips. One of the greatest joys in his life was coaching his own children’s hockey and ringette teams and watching them play. His love of the game of hockey included a lifetime of playing and watching the sport.

Michael is survived by his loving and adoring wife Wendy; his children, Mathew and Katherine; his father Tom; brothers, Brendan (Lorraine), Colin (Kari), Jeff (Barbara), and Brad (Michel), and their families. Michael was predeceased by his mother Jeanne in 2019.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the Church.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the Emergency, ICU, Surgical and Organ Transplant Teams at the Foothills Medical Center.
