Obituary of James Ritchie Norman

April 17, 1942 – Glasgow, Scotland

January 25, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With extreme sadness, we wish to announce the passing of James “Jimmy” Ritchie Norman, at the Bowcrest Nursing Home on Thursday, January 25, 2024, with his daughter Dianne by his side.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Nancy and their children, Jackie (Cyril), Dianne (Roy); grandchildren James, Justin, Dominique, and Tino; great-grandchildren Grace and Atlas. He is also survived by his sister Irene Nimmo and family (Scotland), brother-in-law Billy, former son-in-law Mark, and numerous family and friends throughout Canada, Scotland, Iceland, the USA, and Australia.

He was predeceased by both parents, Catherine and Robert Norman; brother Robert (Bobby) Norman, and son Richard Norman.

Jimmy loved collecting and decorating hats from around the world and playing golf with his many friends.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association (5600 Centre St N, Calgary, AB T2K 0T3).

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Jimmy’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
