Betty Graham

Obituary of Betty Anne Graham

September 10, 1932 - Thunder Bay, Ontario

January 27, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

After an incredible journey, Betty Anne Graham (nee Chabot nee Moore) decided she'd had enough, passing away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Betty was born in Fort William/Port Arthur, now known as Thunder Bay, ON, to her parents Florence Mary Moore (nee Gray), and John James Moore. She grew up alongside her younger sister Marilyn.

She married Lorne A. Chabot after residing in Thunder Bay and together they had three incredible daughters. Later, she divorced Lorne prior to his passing in 1989. While briefly living in Winnipeg and North Vancouver, and before moving to Calgary in 1967, it appeared indigestion was one more daughter.

In the mid 1970s, she met Robert (Bob) Graham, eloped, and moved with him to Dubai, UAE. in 1979. Here they lived and began a successful energy company until they retired to Tenerife in 1989. Betty and Bob had amazing adventures all over the world. They moved back to Canada in 1992, living in Cranbrook until Bob's passing in 1995.

In 1997, she moved to Calgary to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid volunteer. Her love of babies led her to cuddling newborn babies in the NICU at the Alberta Children's Hospital. She described this experience as "The best thing ever".

Her genuine curiosity and love of travel enabled her to meet amazing people all over the world. Her and Bob's passion to make the world a little better for people led to many philanthropic pursuits. The last few years of her life were challenged by Alzheimer's, a fight she never gave up.

Betty is survived by her four daughters, Susan D. Nordlund (Randy), Sandi J. Parker (Barry), Carol A. Chabot-Moore (Warren Moore), and Lauren J. Chabot (Brad Haidner); five grandchildren, Jonathan Nordlund (Allison), Myles Nordlund, Kyle Moore, Robert (Bobby) Cragg, and David Cragg; and four great-grandchildren, Jagar, Lenox, Burke Nordlund (Jon and Alli) and Milie Nordlund (Myles).
