January 28, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Lee Ashbourne of Victoria, BC, beloved daughter, sister, and friend passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in Calgary, AB at the age of 69 years.

Born June 21, 1954, in London, ON, Lee was a graduate of Oakville Trafalgar High School and a proud alumna of the Toronto East General School of Nursing. Lee’s passion for service led her to a fulfilling career as an operating room nurse at Toronto East General Hospital, Calgary Children's Hospital, Victoria General, and later in IT Administration Services with the BC Health Authority in Victoria, BC.

Lee embraced the coastal beauty of Victoria. She enjoyed long walks, good coffee, cooking, jazz music, and her social time with close friends and wonderful neighbours in Esquimalt, BC. Lee was known for her culinary talent, a keen eye for interior design, and her love of birds and bird watching.

In her retirement, Lee continued her passion for gardening, completing the BC Master Gardener Certification, and volunteered at Victoria's beautiful Butchart Gardens.

Lee was predeceased by her parents Jean and Frank Ashbourne. She will be sadly missed by her sister Lorie Johnsen, brother-in-law Trent, niece Katherine, nephew Quinn, and her friends on Vancouver Island. Her warm spirit, kindness, energy, empathy, and humour touched the lives of many.

There will be no service at the request of the family.
