Obituary of George Munro Dow

January 19, 1930 – Edinburgh, Scotland

January 27, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

George Munro Dow passed away peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 94 years.

George was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1930 and immigrated to Canada as a young man. He was a proud Scotsman who never missed a chance to tell you something about his homeland or his family.

George is survived by his long-time partner, Kay Shimbashi and her family, his son Joseph (Brandi), grandson Sean, and granddaughter Ashley. George was predeceased by his loving wife Maria.

The families wish to thank the incredible teams at Garrison Green Active Living, Hillcrest Extendicare, and Mayfair Care Centre for everything they did for George since 2016. We would also like to thank the Unit 93 medical team at Rockyview Hospital, as well as Evan Cikaluk and Virginia Strobel for the tremendous care and compassion given to George in his last days.

A private memorial service will be held in George’s honour.
