Obituary of Domenico Parente

January 31, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Domenico Parente, beloved husband of the late Angiolina Parente (nee Morrone), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Angiolina, his parents, Giuseppina and Gaetano, brother Giuseppe, sister Giovanna, as well as many other family and friends. He is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Mario and Laurie, and grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella, Joseph, and Grace.

Domenico and Angiolina immigrated to Canada from Sepino, Italy, in 1961 and settled in Calgary. Domenico spent many years working in construction and with CP Rail until his retirement in 1996.

Domenico enjoyed a hard day’s work, particularly in his garden, making wine, and baking bread. He also loved spending time visiting with family and friends. Domenico’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He lit up whenever they were around. He was always ready to give advice and hear about their lives.

After a long and fulfilling life, he left us peacefully and with a gentle smile.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at the Church.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Domenico’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
