Obituary of Roy Alvin Beauvais

February 1, 1955 – Port Hope, Ontario

February 1, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Roy Beauvais, a beloved husband, father, devoted friend, and avid golf enthusiast, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the age of 69 years. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that touched the lives of many.

He was born February 1, 1955, in Port Hope, ON, and was the baby of four children to Edmond and Rose Beauvais. During his childhood in Ontario, he was a humble hero in all the sports he played. He enjoyed playing hockey, football, baseball, and excelled in long-distance running. After finishing basic training in the military, Roy moved to Calgary, AB, to pursue a new adventure. In 1977, Roy welcomed his first daughter, Melisa, to the world. In 1982, he met the love of his life, Rosalie, and wooed her into marrying him on June 30, 1984. They expanded their family with the arrival of Ryan in 1988, and after years of begging, Ryan’s wish of becoming a big brother was fulfilled with the birth of Randi in 1997.

Roy was a man whose heart overflowed with love for those closest to him. Beyond his roles as a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend, Roy found solace and delight in the game of golf. For him, it wasn't just a sport; it was a passion that mirrored the way he approached life - with precision, dedication, and a genuine appreciation for the journey. Roy took pride in telling anyone who would listen about his achievements on the golf course, which included the impressive feat of not one, but two holes-in-one, golfing all around the world, and the clubs he loved like a fourth child.

Roy spent his final months in sunny Australia with his two daughters, where he tried his hardest to pick up an accent and learn the lingo. He was affectionately known as “Roy Boy” by all of the Aussie locals. In between his many rounds of golf, he enjoyed watching cricket, feeding kangaroos and koalas, killing scary spiders for Randi, and spending time with new friends and family. He was able to check off seeing the Sydney Opera House from his lifelong bucket list, which was made more special by getting to do so with his daughters by his side.

Roy's passing leaves a void in our hearts, but we take solace in the memories of his love, the lessons he imparted, the joy he spread, his unique and cheeky sense of humour, and always being unapologetically himself. His spirit lives on in the stories shared among family and friends, especially around the fire pit and the golf courses he frequented.

He is predeceased by his son Ryan, beloved wife Rosalie, his parents Edmond and Rose, brother James (Robert), and sister Kathy. He is survived by his daughters Melisa and Randi (Tristan); older sister Vivian, and his many nieces and nephews that are too many to mention but loved all the same.
