We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Dale Elwood Strand on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the age of 77 years.

Dale was a career firefighter with the Calgary Fire Department from March 17, 1975, until his retirement on August 17, 2003, with 28 years of service. Dale retired as Captain out of Fire Station No. 1 downtown, the same fire station at which he began his career as a rookie. Dale was also an avid photographer with published works.

Dale leaves behind his spouse Alison Witham, his daughter Amy Witham-Strand, and his grandchildren Hunter and Coby, as well as many beloved friends and family.

A private family celebration for Dale has been held.

To commemorate Dale, the flags at all Calgary Firehalls will be lowered on Friday, March 1, 2024.
