Condolences
I met Barbara on-line after she joined Worley-Parsons. We were co-workers as she ran the company Calgary Library and I ran the Edmonton Library. We had a lot of shared knowledge and experiences and helped each other handle our combined catalogues and national/international issues. We became good friends before we met. We even took time one weekend to meet for lunch in Red Deer. I was sad when we both lost our jobs due to downsizing and the she was diagnosed with her disease. We lost touch.
My condolences to her family for her loss.
Barbara, you are missed!
I met Barb in 1986 when I started at NovAtel we quickly became friends and bonded over our love of cats, music and crafts. Barb, love to sew, I love to do Cross Stitch eventually a group of us decided to form our own little stitching club and I remember , when our first meetings in the evening and one of the other ladies said all she wanted to do was learn how to sew a button. Barb took the time to teach her how to sew that button.
As we moved on to different jobs different companies we lost Touch with each other. However, as we were both working downtown, we used to get together for lunch do a little shopping. We even both bought the same leather jacket although I had mine first. Our lives took different paths we drifted apart, but when we crossed paths with each other again, our friendship just picked up where it left off.
Barb is going to be missed by her friends but more so by her family. I hope they can take comfort in knowing that there were many lives that she touched and that there are many people who are missing her today. I take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and discomfort and she has been reunited with Karry and those who have passed before her I know that I will see Barb again in heaven, until that time rest in peace, my friend you will be missed.
I met Barb when I started working at NovAtel in 1985. I was new to the working world, she was the librarian in the technical literature library. She was always so helpful to me, getting started and trying to figure out which way was up in the technical world.
As the years flew by she and I became good friends. We played softball together along with Karry, and I got to know them very well. Barb always put her best effort into playing softball and I appreciated her for that. When I got married in 1994, she and Karry came to India for my wedding (Karry was my groomsman). It was a great experience to have them come along. I will always have fond memories of them both and it makes me happy to think that they are united once again.
My heart goes out to Barb's family.
I have fond memories of working and playing with Barb at NovAtel back in the 80's. As Eileen mentioned, she was always very fashionable (while I schlepped around in my baggy sweatshirts). She was a member of the S.O.B club that got together at lunch to work on various cross-stitching projects and vent about whatever was going on at work or in our lives (that was the 'B' part), and she valiantly played rover on Roboteam in the NovAtel softball league. Fun times!
I know that the last few years have been tough, but Barb, I'll miss knowing you are in the world.
My condolences to Dylan, Doug, and the rest of Barb's family.
Hi - I've been thinking of Barbara this week. I remember meeting her - she was the librarian at NovAtel back in the 1980's when NovAtel still made cell phone systems. Except for the receptionists, she and I were the only women on the 5th floor in the downtown office building. When I couldn't take one more lunch talking about cars with the project team, I would go looking for someone to discuss fashion and jewelry! She was always ready to talk about her latest sewing project.
