Obituary of Rhonda Mikulak
September 10, 1954 – Calgary, Alberta
February 11, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Rhonda Mikulak, Registered Nurse, passed away surrounded by love and in the presence of her family on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 69 years.
Rhonda was born on September 10, 1954, at the Calgary General Hospital to Art and Irene Mikulak. As a young woman, Rhonda made the decision to enter the nursing profession; she was an RN for 47 years, including her last eighteen years with Health Link. She was a ballroom and country dancer, who always seemed to be talking about travelling or going on a trip somewhere.
In 2013, she proudly became “NaNaa” to Dominic, and in 2015, she added another precious grandson, Andrew. In 2019 she became a “Hockey NaNaa”, spending countless hours watching her grandsons play hockey. The McKnight Mustangs became more important than the NHL.
Rhonda is survived by her “one and only” daughter, Nicole-Marie, dedicated son-in-law Shawn Stordy, and the two most important men in her life, her grandsons, Dominic and Andrew Stordy; her siblings, Murray Mikulak, Terry (Louise) Mikulak, and Patty Romman (Kurt Renner); nieces Shanelle (Stephen) Fredrickson, Vanessa Romman (Harman); and nephews, Sean Mikulak and Kevin Mikulak (Alex). She was a proud “Graunty” to Ellie Fredrickson, and Oliver, Ellie, and Frankie Mikulak. She is also survived by her Regina family; John and Linda Stordy, Elishia and Logan Larwood; as well as many special friends, cousins, and relatives across AB and BC.
Rhonda was predeceased by her parents Art and Irene Mikulak; and her sister-in-law, Shelagh Mikulak.
The family would like to express a heartfelt appreciation to Dr. William Kent, Dr. Lisa Welikovitch, the staff at Foothills Medical Center (CVICU), and most importantly, our nurse Farran Rankel, who treated Rhonda with so much dignity in her final hours.
