Barry Wallin

Obituary of Barry Leslie Wallin

June 27, 1948 – Radville, Saskatchewan

February 11, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts, but fond memories, the family announces Barry's peaceful passing after a lengthy illness.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-four years, Cathy (who currently resides in Calgary, AB), children Brent (Carmen) and Cory (Krista); and five grandchildren, Bayley, Carter, Blake, Payton, and Rhett; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Royden and Lydia (Rody) Wallin, and by his brother, Warren.

Born in Radville, SK, his upbringing traversed a variety of towns across SK and MB, which gave him the unique ability to make a connection with people and quickly generate a smile or chuckle with an old or new friend. Never one to use a map or follow the conventional route, he was forever good for a “shortcut”. His journey was filled with many laughs and practical jokes, but the highlight was undoubtedly his time in Moosomin, SK, where he met his best friend and love of his life, Cathy.

He enjoyed successful careers in both lending and real estate encompassing Western Canada, yet he was most passionate about sports and his children and grandchildren. He spent years coaching and traveling to attend his sons’ sporting activities. Later, he could be found on the golf course, at the curling rink, or watching his grandchildren on the stage, field, ball diamond, hockey rink, or pool.

Always one to prioritize family gatherings, Barry was especially proud of having the family inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame.

He relied on his fantastic memory to reminisce and tell stories, but for some reason he could never remember how you wanted your steak cooked, consistently delivering them well done!

In honouring Barry's wishes, there will be no service.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 235 Yorkland Boulevard, Suite 1201, Toronto, ON, M2J 4Y8, Telephone: (403) 255-7100, www.jdrf.ca.
