Condolences
They say that people don’t really care how much you know until they know how much you care. George was the epitome of caring. He was also of that generation of Rotarians who were born with the “service above self” streak; he didn’t have to learn it. I had the honour and privilege of having George and this special generation of Rotarians as my kind mentors 16 years ago when I joined the Calgary North Club. The day he passed, George was the last of these Mohicans. I’ll miss him greatly. We’ll miss him greatly…
George was an incredible contributor to Wild Rose United Church and had an excellent vision of its future as an institution serving the greater community. I am deeply grateful for his wise council as a member of the ministerial search committee in 2003 for which I was chairperson of and resulted in an outstanding choice for our Minister.

George was a long time member of the Calgary North Hill Rotary Club & past President. Many positions of the board always there when any thing needed to be done. I have known Waites all my life and he will be deeply missed. Condolences to his Family!

George was one of my older cousins. When we were married 63 years ago, we ask George to be the 'Movie Photograper' for the day. He was a good friend as well as a good cousin. Ken, Cathy, and the grandkids and great grandkids will miss him grreatly. RIP George.

George was a huge volunteer at our church.
He was also very kind and understanding with me.
I am sorry for your loss.
George and I worked at P.J. Toole and Cote at 1716 -16th Avenue N.W. for a number of years back in the early 1980s. I then met George again when Pleasant Heights United amalgamated with what is now called Wild Rose United about twenty years ago. I believe I was at a few meetings as a guest of Rotary at the old Highlander Hotel down in the basement back in the day. George usually had something to share with the monthly men's breakfast at Wild Rose back in the day. Lots of fond memories. Glad I had a final visit with George in December 2022 when I dropped off a poinsettia. I will miss you George!
