Obituary of Kelsie Rae Friesen

May 19, 1965 – Herbert, Saskatchewan

February 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Kelsie Rae Friesen, of Calgary, AB, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of 58 years.

 

Kelsie was born in Herbert, SK, on May 19, 1965, to Henry and Irene Friesen. Kelsie worked as an insurance underwriter for the majority of her working life. 

 

She was very artistic and throughout her life, she painted, sewed gorgeous quilt patches, crafted, and from early on, was an avid reader.  Kelsie could immerse herself in reading that would take her to wherever the story was taking place. Kelsie loved all animals. Since she was young, she had the honour of having two loving dogs and six wonderfully spoiled cats. 

 

Kelsie is survived by her sisters, Tammy Merko and Lisa Welch (James); her nieces, Taralee Merko, Alexandra Helgeton (Alex), and Paige Merko; nephews, Justin Sweet (Karla) and Logan Welch; great-nieces, Natalie Helgeton, Hailey Helgeton and Rilynn Sweet; great-nephews, Jayce Welch and Rhett Sweet.

 

Kelsie was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Irene Friesen.

 

A Private Viewing will be held with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Prince of Faith Lutheran Church (Church 2523 56 St N.E Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception with light refreshments to follow on the lower level.
