Obituary of Edwyna Mary McIntyre

January 26, 1945 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

February 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Edwyna Mary McIntyre of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 79 years.

Edwyna was fiercely proud and protective of her family; her loving devotion to her husband Don throughout his extended health challenges was unwavering. Edwyna always put her family first. She worked hard to provide a comfortable loving home for her kids and husband which notably involved cooking the best pierogies, cabbage rolls and borscht to name a few dishes her family lived for; especially little Karina. Edwyna was the grandma her grandkids couldn’t wait to see and have sleepovers with. Grandma enjoyed reading stories in bed with Jadon and Karina, coming to their school concerts and vacationing together. Grandma was the coolest person in the room for her grandkids who they loved unconditionally.

Edwyna was loved by all her family and large group of friends for her witty sense of humour and her non-wavering support to any of them when in need, however she could help. Edwyna and Don helped so many people get through tough times in their lives.

Edwyna was born in North Battleford, SK, grew up in Colonsay, SK, later moving to Saskatoon after high school where she met her husband, Don. Edwyna and Don moved to Calgary, AB in 1968 where they started their family and were married for 52 years until Don’s passing in 2020.

Edwyna had a long and successful career at Telus (formerly AGT) where she made many lifelong friends who still talk about all the fun times they had together at work. Upon retirement she and Don enjoyed many destinations such as Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the US/Hawaii. Recently Edwyna also took a trip of a lifetime to India and the Maldives together with Nancy and Aunty Irene.

She will be dearly missed by her son Jason (Gloria), grandchildren, Jadon and Karina; and her daughter Nancy, little Maria, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Edwyna was predeceased by her parents, Paul Bohonis and Juliana (Kolosky) Bohonis; brothers, Cornelius Bohonis, Norval Bohonis, Dwight Bohonis, and Randolph Bohonis; and sister Anna Bohonis.

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to Dr. Huii and the palliative care team.

We will always love you, Mom; we are proud of you and Dad for making us the people we are in this world.
